Solas
Solas is an elven apostate mage and expert on the Fade who serves as a companion to the Inquisitor before revealing himself as the ancient elven deity Fen'Harel.
Background
Solas first appears in Dragon Age: Inquisition as a hedge mage who offers his services to the Inquisition due to his extensive knowledge of the Fade. He is a staunch believer in the importance of spirits and possesses a unique ability to traverse the Fade in his dreams, which he uses to assist the Inquisitor in closing the Breach. His calm demeanour and philosophical outlook often mask his deep-seated resentment toward the current state of Thedas.
The Dread Wolf
It is eventually revealed that Solas is actually Fen'Harel, the Dread Wolf of elven mythology. He is the architect of the Veil, a magical barrier he created millennia ago to imprison the Evanuris, the ancient elven gods. Having awakened from a long slumber to find his people diminished and the world changed, he seeks to tear down the Veil to restore the world of the ancient elves, a plan that would inevitably result in the destruction of the current civilization of Thedas.
