Denerim

Denerim is the capital city of the Kingdom of Ferelden and serves as a central hub of political power and historical significance within the continent of Thedas.

History and Geography

Denerim is situated on the eastern coast of Ferelden, built into the side of a mountain overlooking the Amaranthine Ocean. As the capital, it houses the royal palace, Fort Drakon, and the bustling market district. The city has survived numerous conflicts, including the occupation by the Orlesian Empire, which left a lasting mark on its architecture and cultural tensions.

Significance

The city serves as a critical location during the Fifth Blight, acting as the site for the Landsmeet where the fate of the throne is decided. It is here that figures such as Alistair Theirin and Loghain Mac Tir clash over the future of the kingdom. The city also hosts the Chantry of Denerim, a place of sanctuary and intrigue where companions like Leliana and Wynne may be encountered throughout the journey to defeat the darkspawn threat.
