Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age: Inquisition is the third major entry in the Dragon Age franchise, focusing on the player's role as the Inquisitor tasked with closing a catastrophic tear in the sky known as the Breach.

Released in 2014, Dragon Age: Inquisition follows the collapse of the Chantry and the subsequent emergence of a massive magical rift in the sky over the continent of Thedas. As the sole survivor of the explosion that created this Breach, the player character gains the Mark, a unique ability that allows them to seal these rifts. The player assumes leadership of the newly reformed Inquisition, an independent organisation dedicated to restoring order amidst the chaos of the Mage-Templar War.

Gameplay and Impact

The game features expansive open-world environments, tactical combat, and a complex narrative system where player choices significantly alter the political landscape of Thedas. The Inquisition must recruit diverse companions, including figures like Varric Tethras, Cassandra Pentaghast, and Solas, to build influence and combat the ancient threat posed by the darkspawn and the rogue magister Corypheus. Its success helped define the modern era of BioWare titles, emphasising the consequences of leadership and the weight of moral ambiguity in a high-fantasy setting.
