Duncan was a veteran Grey Warden who served as the Commander of the Fereldan branch of the order. Known for his unwavering dedication to the cause, he travelled across the continent to recruit new members to bolster the ranks of the Wardens in preparation for the coming Blight. He is best remembered for his role in the Battle of Ostagar, where he sought to unite the kingdom against the darkspawn threat.
Recruitment and Legacy
- Recruited the Warden protagonist from various origins including the Cousland, Surana, and Mahariel lineages.
- Performed the Joining ritual to induct new members into the order.
- Died during the betrayal at Ostagar while fighting alongside King Cailan Theirin.
His death at the hands of the darkspawn left the Grey Wardens in Ferelden severely depleted, forcing the surviving recruits to take up the mantle of the order. His sacrifice served as the catalyst for the events of the Fifth Blight, as the remaining Wardens were tasked with gathering allies to defeat the Archdemon Urthemiel.
