Brecilian Forest
The Brecilian Forest is a dense, ancient woodland in eastern Ferelden, historically significant as the home of the Dalish elves and the site of a long-standing curse.
Geography and History
The Brecilian Forest is a vast, untamed wilderness located in the north-eastern region of Ferelden. It is renowned for its thick canopy and shifting paths, which often confuse travellers and outsiders. The forest is most notable for being the primary territory of the Dalish elves, who roam the woods in nomadic clans to preserve their culture and history away from human settlements.
The Curse of the Forest
For centuries, the forest was plagued by a magical curse that caused those who entered to lose their way or succumb to madness. During the events of the Fifth Blight, the Grey Warden, accompanied by companions such as Alistair Theirin and Morrigan, entered the woods to seek an alliance with the Dalish. They discovered that the forest's hostility was linked to an ancient conflict between the elves and the spirits of the forest, specifically the Lady of the Forest and the local werewolves.
