Rivendell

Rivendell, also known as Imladris, is an Elven sanctuary established by Elrond in the valley of the Misty Mountains that serves as a vital refuge for those fighting against the darkness of Sauron.

History and Significance

Founded during the Second Age, Rivendell is a hidden stronghold located at the edge of the Wild, protected by ancient enchantments. It is the home of Elrond Half-elven and serves as a bastion of wisdom, healing, and lore, preserving the history of the Elves amidst the encroaching shadow of Middle-earth. The valley is often referred to as the Last Homely House east of the Sea, offering a place of respite for travellers and heroes alike.

Role in the War of the Ring

Rivendell is most notable for hosting the Council of Elrond, where representatives from the Free Peoples gathered to decide the fate of the One Ring. It was here that the Fellowship of the Ring was formed, including Frodo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey, Aragorn, Legolas Greenleaf, Gimli, Samwise Gamgee, Meriadoc Brandybuck, and Peregrin Took. The sanctuary provided the group with essential supplies, counsel, and healing before they embarked on their perilous quest to Mordor.
