Elendil
Elendil was the last High King of Arnor and Gondor who led the Dúnedain in the Last Alliance against Sauron.
Elendil was a leader of the Faithful Númenóreans who escaped the destruction of their island home. After arriving in Middle-earth, he founded the northern kingdom of Arnor and the southern kingdom of Gondor alongside his sons, Isildur and Anárion. His lineage represents the noble heritage of the Dúnedain that eventually culminates in the rise of Aragorn.
The Last Alliance
Elendil played a pivotal role in the history of Middle-earth by forging the Last Alliance of Elves and Men to challenge the growing power of Sauron. During the final siege of Barad-dûr, he fought alongside Gil-galad but was slain by the Dark Lord. His sword, Narsil, was shattered beneath him during the battle, an event that remains a significant moment in the lore known to figures like Gandalf the Grey and Elrond.
Following his death, his broken blade was kept as an heirloom by his descendants. The legacy of Elendil serves as a foundational element for the restoration of the throne in the later age, providing the ancestral claim that defines the journey of the Fellowship, including Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Meriadoc Brandybuck, Peregrin Took, Gimli, and Legolas Greenleaf.
