Elrond

Elrond Half-elven is the Lord of Rivendell and a pivotal leader who played a crucial role in the defeat of Sauron during the Third Age of Middle-earth.

History and Role

Elrond is a powerful Elf-lord and the master of Imladris, also known as Rivendell. Born of both Elven and human lineage, he chose the immortality of the Elves. Throughout the Third Age, he served as a wise counsellor to many, including Gandalf the Grey and the Dúnedain rangers. He is perhaps best known for hosting the Council of Elrond, where it was decided that the One Ring must be destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom.

Connection to the Fellowship

Elrond provided sanctuary and healing to Frodo Baggins after the hobbit was wounded by a Morgul-blade. He oversaw the formation of the Fellowship, which included Aragorn, Legolas Greenleaf, Gimli, Samwise Gamgee, Meriadoc Brandybuck, and Peregrin Took. As a guardian of the Elven ring Vilya, Elrond used his power to protect Rivendell from the influence of the enemy, ensuring it remained a vital refuge for those fighting against the darkness of Mordor.
