Meriadoc Brandybuck

Meriadoc Brandybuck, often known as Merry, was a Hobbit of the Shire and a founding member of the Fellowship of the Ring who played a pivotal role in the War of the Ring.

Early Life and the Fellowship

Meriadoc Brandybuck was a close cousin and friend of Frodo Baggins. As a member of the conspiracy to help Frodo leave the Shire, he joined the journey to Rivendell alongside Samwise Gamgee and his inseparable companion Peregrin Took. He was subsequently chosen as one of the nine members of the Fellowship of the Ring, tasked with the destruction of the One Ring.

The War of the Ring

After being captured by Uruk-hai alongside Pippin, Merry escaped into Fangorn Forest, where he encountered the Ents and helped incite them to march against Isengard. Later, he entered the service of King Theoden of Rohan and fought heroically at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. Alongside Eowyn, he played a crucial role in the defeat of the Witch-king of Angmar, proving the bravery of Hobbits in the wider conflict involving Gandalf the Grey, Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas Greenleaf.
