seasons
The television series Airwolf spanned four seasons, documenting the missions of a high-tech supersonic helicopter and its crew during the mid-1980s.
The first three seasons of Airwolf aired on CBS from 1984 to 1986, focusing on the exploits of Stringfellow Hawke and Dominic Santini as they operated the Airwolf helicopter for the Firm. These seasons were characterised by high-stakes Cold War espionage, complex aerial cinematography, and the search for Hawke's missing brother, St. John. The original run is defined by the performances of Jan-Michael Vincent and Ernest Borgnine, establishing the series as a staple of 1980s action television.
The Fourth Season
Following the show's cancellation by CBS, a fourth season was produced in Canada for the USA Network in 1987. This iteration featured a completely new cast, including Barry Van Dyke as St. John Hawke, and utilised a lower budget that relied heavily on stock footage from previous years. While this season concluded the narrative arcs of the main characters, it is often viewed as a distinct departure from the tone and production quality of the original trilogy.
