From Airwolf wiki

Firm

The Firm is the secretive and morally ambiguous division of the Central Intelligence Agency responsible for the creation and oversight of the Airwolf project.

The Firm operates as a clandestine branch of the United States intelligence community, functioning with significant autonomy and limited oversight. It is primarily known for developing the Airwolf prototype, a highly advanced, supersonic attack helicopter. The organisation maintains a complex relationship with the helicopter's pilot, Stringfellow Hawke, who initially stole the craft to force the government to help him locate his missing brother, St. John.

Operational Conduct

Throughout the series, The Firm is characterised by its ruthless pragmatism and willingness to engage in questionable tactical decisions to secure national interests. Its leadership, most notably represented by figures such as Archangel, often finds itself in conflict with Hawke, who distrusts the bureaucracy and cold-blooded nature of the agency. Despite this tension, The Firm remains a primary source of mission objectives and logistical support for the Airwolf crew, frequently tasking them with high-stakes operations that official government channels cannot acknowledge.
