Season 4
Season 4 of Airwolf represents a complete production overhaul that relocated filming to Canada and introduced a new cast to continue the adventures of the supersonic helicopter.
Production Changes
Following the cancellation of the original series by CBS, Airwolf was revived for a fourth season in 1987 by the USA Network. Production moved from the United States to Vancouver, British Columbia, resulting in a significantly reduced budget and a shift in the show's aesthetic. This transition led to the departure of the original lead actors, including Jan-Michael Vincent, who appeared only briefly to facilitate the handover of the Airwolf helicopter to a new crew.
New Cast and Narrative
The narrative focus shifted to Major Mike Rivers and St. John Hawke, the long-lost brother of Stringfellow Hawke, who assumed command of the aircraft. Alongside pilot Jason Locke and technician Jo Santini, the team continued to operate under the auspices of the Company to combat international threats. While the season maintained the core premise of aerial espionage, the change in personnel and the reuse of stock footage from previous seasons marked a distinct departure from the tone established during the show's initial run.
