Michael Coldsmith-Briggs III

Michael Coldsmith-Briggs III, famously known by his codename Archangel, is a pivotal character in the Airwolf universe. He holds the position of Deputy Director within "The Firm," an intelligence agency often depicted as a division of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) or a similar independent entity, which was responsible for the design and construction of the advanced helicopter, Airwolf.

Archangel is distinguished by his signature white suit, a cane, and an eye patch over his left eye, an injury he sustained when Airwolf was initially stolen by its psychopathic creator, Dr. Charles Moffet. Following Airwolf's recovery by Stringfellow Hawke, Archangel brokered a deal: Hawke would fly missions of national importance for The Firm, and in return, The Firm would assist Hawke in locating his brother, St. John, who was missing in action from the Vietnam War.

Portrayed by actor Alex Cord for the first three seasons of the television series, Archangel acts as the crucial link between the reclusive Stringfellow Hawke and the government's covert operations. While typically dispatching missions, he occasionally served as a flight engineer on Airwolf. His character embodies the often ambiguous morality of The Firm, which, despite being an ally, would sometimes attempt to reclaim Airwolf from Hawke.
