Michael Arthur Long
Michael Arthur Long was an undercover police officer whose near-fatal shooting led to his transformation into the crime fighter known as Michael Knight.
Background
Michael Arthur Long was a dedicated detective serving with the Los Angeles Police Department. While working undercover to expose a high-level industrial espionage ring, he was betrayed and shot in the face by a criminal named Tanya Walker. His survival was made possible by the intervention of Wilton Knight, the founder of the Foundation for Law and Government.
Legacy
Following his recovery, Long underwent extensive reconstructive surgery and was given a new identity as Michael Knight. He was recruited by Devon Miles to serve as the primary field agent for the Foundation, paired with the artificially intelligent automobile known as KITT. Although the persona of Michael Arthur Long was officially declared dead, his physical form became the vessel for a new mission to uphold justice alongside technicians like Bonnie Barstow and April Curtis.
