Pegasus
The Battlestar Pegasus was a powerful Mercury-class battlestar that served as a critical military asset for the Colonial Fleet following the Cylon attack on the Twelve Colonies.
History and Design
The Pegasus was a state-of-the-art Mercury-class battlestar, significantly more advanced and heavily armed than the aging Galactica. Under the command of Admiral Helena Cain, the ship survived the initial Cylon nuclear assault on the shipyards at Scorpia. Following the destruction of the colonies, the Pegasus operated independently, conducting a brutal and effective guerrilla war against Cylon forces while maintaining a rigid, often ruthless military hierarchy.
Reunion and Legacy
Upon encountering the Galactica, the Pegasus provided much-needed reinforcements and resources to the surviving human fleet. Despite initial friction between Admiral Cain and Commander Adama regarding command authority and ethical conduct, the two ships eventually formed a unified defensive front. The Pegasus was ultimately destroyed during the Battle of New Caprica, where it sacrificed itself to protect the Galactica and the civilian fleet, allowing for the successful evacuation of the human population.
