Jefferson Davis Hogg
Jefferson Davis Hogg, commonly known as Boss Hogg, is the corrupt and greedy commissioner of Hazzard County who frequently schemes to seize the Duke family farm.
Background
Jefferson Davis Hogg serves as the primary antagonist in Hazzard County, holding the position of County Commissioner. He is easily recognised by his signature white suit, white cowboy hat, and constant consumption of cigars. Driven by an insatiable appetite for wealth and power, he frequently abuses his political office to orchestrate illegal schemes, often involving his dim-witted brother-in-law, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane.
Conflict with the Dukes
Boss Hogg harbours a deep-seated grudge against the Duke family, primarily because they consistently thwart his illicit business ventures. He is particularly obsessed with acquiring the Duke farm, which he believes sits on valuable land or contains hidden resources. Despite his constant attempts to frame Bo and Luke Duke for various crimes, his plans almost always fail due to the Dukes' resourcefulness and the intervention of Uncle Jesse.
Personality
While he is undeniably corrupt, Hogg is portrayed as a cunning and manipulative figure who maintains a veneer of respectability within the county. He is notoriously stingy and often attempts to cheat his associates, including his own deputies, out of their fair share of profits. His gluttony is a recurring character trait, as he is frequently seen eating large meals despite his constant complaints about his health.
