Jesse Mach

Jesse Mach was a motorcycle cop who suffered a career-ending injury and the death of his partner, Marty, when they were struck by a black truck while off-duty. Deemed unfit for active duty, he was reassigned to a desk job in the Public Relations department, a role he found frustrating. Mach was also an amateur dirt-bike racer, which proved crucial to his later recruitment.

His life changed when he was approached by federal agent and engineer Norman Tuttle, the creator of a top-secret, prototype attack motorcycle codenamed Street Hawk. Tuttle needed a skilled rider to test the bike in real-world conditions and saw Mach as the ideal candidate. Mach agreed to become the secret test driver, initially on the condition that he could use the advanced vehicle to investigate the hit-and-run that injured him and killed his partner.

As the rider of Street Hawk, Mach operates as a masked vigilante, fighting urban crime under the guidance of Tuttle, who provides tactical support from a remote command centre. Mach leads a double life, serving as a police public relations officer by day and a crimefighter by night. His role is pivotal as he is the sole operative capable of piloting the high-speed, heavily armed motorcycle, making him the central figure in the Street Hawk project.
