Night Man

Night Man, whose civilian identity is Johnny Domino, is a talented San Francisco jazz saxophonist. He gained his unique abilities after being struck by lightning during a cable car accident. This incident left a fragment of shrapnel in his brain, granting him the power to telepathically "hear the frequency of evil" – essentially, the malicious thoughts of those around him – and also resulted in permanent insomnia and enhanced night vision.

To combat the evil he perceives, Johnny Domino operates as the vigilante Night Man. He wears a high-tech, bulletproof black bodysuit equipped with an anti-gravity belt for flight, holographic camouflage for invisibility, and a mask with a red lens that provides advanced sight functions, including the ability to see in the dark and fire a laser beam. The television series, developed by Glen A. Larson, aired in syndication from 1997 to 1999 and was loosely based on a character from Malibu Comics' Ultraverse imprint.

Night Man's significance to the Manimal franchise stems from a crossover episode in his own series, titled "Manimal," which aired in the second season. In this episode, Johnny Domino allies with Professor Jonathan Chase, the shapeshifting protagonist of the 1983 Manimal series, to stop a time-travelling Jack the Ripper. This direct interaction firmly establishes Night Man's place within the broader universe created by Glen A. Larson, connecting the two distinct superhero narratives.
